Mixing Mechanism Vertical impeller that generates a gentle, large-scale, upward-and-outward flow. Horizontal impeller that creates high-shear zones and turbulent eddies.
Shear Stress Very low. Designed to minimize hydrodynamic stress, making it ideal for shear-sensitive cells like stem cells and cell aggregates. High, especially near the impeller blades. Can be detrimental to fragile cells, although impeller designs have been optimized to reduce this.
